conscious of the potentially high
degree of water loss from
evaporation, splashing, backwash
and pool leaks. For pool owners to
continually top up their pools would
be an enormous drain on the state
water supply.

The State Government’s BASIX
program now requires anyone
who wishes to build a new home
or do renovations on an existing
home in NSW to institute a plan
that reduces the potential water
usage by 40%.

Properly fitted pool covers can stop 97% of evaporation from a pool. Demand Solar supplies two differing qualities of cover with different roll up systems.

Daisy pool cover

	The premier pool cover in use today
	A double layered bubble blanket
	Both a water saver by putting a lid
	on the surface and a solar heater by trapping warm air under its transparent surface
	A roller system helps get the
	blanket cover on and off the pool
	Can increase the temperature of
	the water by up to 8º C if left on the pool during the day when the sun shines

As this method of heating is mostly by convection lower levels of the pool do not receive much heat and are reliant on the mixing created by the filtration equipment and a floor pool cleaner

	A simpler and less expensive cover
	made of closed cell foam
	Equally stops evaporation but not
	as effective to heat the water as not translucent
	Floats on the surface of the pool
	(suited to rectangular pool shapes) Both systems should be fitted by a Demand Solar pool technician.

Pool water recycling system

Demand Solar can fit a special recycling system to the pool filter to treat waste water
The cleaned water is returned to the pool or to a separate storage tank to top up other saved water from downpipe overflow
Demand Solar has developed a
system of double filtration so dirty water trapped in the filter can be returned to the pool clean
or collected in an alternative tank for re-use at a later date
When normal backwash occurs as much as 1,000 litres can be flushed away into the drainage system
Through use of this system water that would normally be dumped to waste after rain can be stored and later re-used for topping up the pool or watering the garden
As the pool water is being filtered on a daily basis and treated with only low levels of chemicals the returned water will not upset the balance of the pool or the soil.

Pool leaks can be a major source of water wastage
All leaks should be fixed before any cover or recycling system is installed in your pool.
