Lead-contaminated dust often found in large and highly toxic quantities in the ceilings of houses built before 1975, is a hazard for all members of the home. Lead toxicity slows development in children, causing permanent mental damage, illness and even impotency in adults.
The government’s National Pollutant Inventory
http://www.npi.gov.au/database/substance-info/
profiles/50.html rated lead as the 11th most
dangerous substance out of 208 rankings. The
report states that “Lead is poisonous in all forms,
the poison is cumulative and the toxic effects many
and severe.”
Professional removal of lead-contaminated dust, with 16 years experience,

As renovation work has increased in houses and apartments,
so has the number of incidents of lead poisoning in
children. The need to vacuum ceilings is paramount, even
for simple renovations such as the installation of down lights.
The LEAD Group, a voluntary advisory group on the problems
and treatment of lead, advises that ceilings should be
vacuum cleaned of offensive dust prior to any renovation
work that penetrates the ceiling.
Vacuum-cleaning of lead-contaminated dust should only be
attempted by experienced operators, with the correct protective
equipment and special commercial vacuum cleaners, fitted
with HEPA filters.
We operate to a Code of Practice to ensure that the
correct procedures are undertaken for removal of all the dust
and to ensure safety to both occupiers and operators.
Demand Insulation has been vacuuming dust from ceilings
since 1996, was a founding member of ADRA, uses trailermounted
HEPA cleaners and removes lead dust.
